Brain wave changes – inhibition of prepotent responses in Parkinson’s Disease
Dr Allison Fox, University of Western Australia
My research includes examination of the long-term effects of brain damage on cognitive functioning using behavioural and psychophysiological measures, such as the event-related potential (ERP). ERPs can provide valuable additional information about how people process information, particularly in cases where overt behavioural responses cannot be reliably obtained. Projects currently under way include investigation of the long-term effects of excessive alcohol consumption, head injury, ADHD, aging, and Parkinson's Disease on cognitive functioning. Brain Foundation assistance has enabled me to extend my research to examining cognitive impairments in Parkinson's Disease.
